Hell’s Kitchen 2015

Hell’s Kitchen 2015

1st Sevenhampton Scout Group

Scout Section 10 ½ to 14 years

For one night a year when winter is still with us, Andoversford’s best restaurant, enticingly entitled Hell’s Kitchen, pops up and opens its doors to friends and family of Sevenhampton Scout troop. A restaurant with a difference, the diners aren’t charged a fixed price for their meal. Instead they pay £5 to cover the cost of the ingredients and then add however much more that they would normally have expected to have paid for their dinner. So every meal needs to be great and every diner delighted.

57 diners arrived to a transformed village hall complete with a welcoming committee of waiters and waitresses at the doors showing guest to well-dressed, candle-lit tables.

“We could see the front of kitchen team hard at work in the very professional looking galley style kitchen which had magically appeared in the hall. We were treated like royalty as we then enjoyed an exquisite three course meal presented to the highest of standards and served most politely and with much attention to detail. Tempting dishes on offer included seafood ravioli; goats cheese crostini, pork and duck terrine, amazing belly pork with the best crackling ever, sole fillets with prawns, caper and lemon butter or a wild mushroom tartlet.

Having worked hard keeping things tidy behind the scenes, the back of house team then transformed into pastry chefs to serve the delicious deserts including, chocolate and orange panna cotta, key lime pie and everyone’s favourite sticky toffee pudding served with homemade honeycomb ice-cream.

So just how good was it this year? Well the Scouts raised over £500 from their restaurant, a brilliant success.

Of course, the scouts wouldn’t have been able to achieve this without help from their regular leaders and some wonderful volunteers. We are grateful to our experts, who give their time and make such a difference to what our Scouts can do. If you are interested in helping our Group then, whether you have just a couple of hours or an evening to offer, there’s something that will make a real different to the children in Andoversford and the surrounding villages.
“Gordon Ramsay needs to move over! We are all thrilled with you! Roll on next time; it is a treat not to be missed.”
